Synod Financial Department is one of the many departments under the Mizoram Presbyterian Church. Since the foundation of the Church in Mizoram, Rev. D.E. Jones (Zosaphluia) worked on plans for the church to support itself rather than relying on financial support from outside Mizoram. Money was collected for the church as soon as the first two new believers were baptised in 1899. The money collected was separated by Zosaphluia so that it would not get mixed up the the rest of the money coming from different source. As the number of Christian grew, there were teachers who were hired by the missionaries, and they start giving the 1/10 of their income to the Church. And money would be collected at the church every Sunday and other income would be given straight to the missionaries and after a few years, the Mizo missionaries would take care of the finance and in 1947, a permanent Treasurer would be appointed as well. The department after this development became a full and separate Department under Synod in 1992.
Synod Finance Department is responsible for the management of all the finance under Mizoram Presbyterian Church. The Department is responsible for every income generated by the Church in Mizoram and the spending and planning of Budget by Synod itself. The finance of all the department under Synod, the Mission Field and Synod itself would be audited by the Synod Auditors and Chartered Accountants. The Finance Department would manage these Audit systems and it would also conduct Financial Campaign and training seminars.
