The 1983 Synod Inkhawmpui approved the establishment of Electronic Communication, which includes gadgets like cassettes, radios, TVs, etc. The 2000 Synod further emphasized the use of electronic media for ministry, where the SEC was kept in charge of taking the initiative. After this decision, the SEC formed the Synod Electronic Media Sub- Committee, and the 2002 Synod Inkhawmpui officially changed the name of Electronic Media to Synod Information and Publicity (Synfo). It is a sub-committee of the Synod Executive Committee.
Hruaina Eng, a 24X7 channel under the Mizoram Synod for Local Cable TV, is under the supervisorship of the Synod Information & Publicity Department (Synfo). It also manages the website of Mizoram Synod (www.mizoramsynod.org). Sources of news are collected from different Departments, and then further disseminate them. Synfo also has state of the art Audio leh Video Studios, which can be utlised for a fee.
A newspaper titled ‘Synfocity’ is released weekly, which is disseminated using email and WhatsApp. Synfo also has the responsibility to document important events for the Mizoram Synod, and safely backs up all photos and videos. Aside from these responsibilities in the media, reality shows such as Praise On are regularly organized.
