P.C. Girls’ School (Presbyterian Church Girls’ School) often called as ‘Pi Teii Sikul’ or ‘Hmeichhe Sikul’ is one of the oldest and reputed schools in Mizoram. The school was founded by Welsh Missionaries in the year 1903 with the motto “To Serve the Lord.” The school offers Class A to Class VIII standard comprising of 16 sections at present. There are currently 38 workers - 31 teaching staffs and 7 non-teaching staff. The school has generated several missionaries since its establishment.
In addition to classroom teaching, the school embarks on fostering intrinsic life skills and abilities, with co-curricular activities that facilitate students to build up their service towards the church and society. Such activities are:
Work Experience (Craft) : Knitting, tailoring, sketching, husking of rice, weaving and other skills are taught to the students. These skill lessons prepare the students to be self-sufficient, some of them have further utilized their skills as key source of generating regular income.
Music : Tonic Solfa is taught during music classes with the intent of upskilling students to conduct choirs or group singing on their own.
Guide and Bulbul : Guide and Bulbul class had been carried out since 1941. The programme continues to be of great benefit for the students.
Events and Competitions : To further stimulate student’s confidence and talents, the school organizes activities such as indoor & outdoor games, debates, quiz, extempore speech etc. every Friday. Students of Class III to VIII are divided into four houses. Each house takes weekly turn to clean the school compound.
Prizes : Annual prizes are dedicated for certain students, they are:
1. Full Attendance award
2. Wednesday Memory Verse award
3. Best performer from Class VIII students in WE and Scripture. The awarded ‘Bible’ for Scripture prize is donated by Pi Lalnunthari (pensioner).
4. Award for all toppers from each standard.
5. Proficiency award given to all ‘top three’ students from each standard.
6. Pi Liani (pensioner) Running Trophy awarded to Class A topper.
The school also runs a well-established hostel with 50 seats. The hostel features safe lodging, essential furniture, clean and accessible bathrooms and toilets.
P.C. Girl’s School strives to build an individual of good citizenship, to be assets for the society and the Church, for the land and nation, imparting education and to equip them with knowledge, skills and Christian values.
