Origin : On 12th January 1983, the Home Mission Committee Res. No.4 resolved that a plot of land be bought at Bawngkawn and be named ‘Vai Kristian Centre.’ The place was eventually named ‘Non-Mizo Christian Centre’ (Hnamdang Kristian Centre.) The plot was bought with Rs. 12,000 donations along with Rs. 20,000 borrowed from Upa T. Romana, Republic Veng and Rs. 60,000 donated by Pi Parkungi, Dawrpui Vengthar. The Centre was inaugurated by the then Synod Moderator Rev. Thangpuiliana on 24th April 1983. The present building today was inaugurated by Synod Moderator Rev. C. Vanlalhruaia on 24th August 1990.
 
Construction and Name : The Training Centre was envisaged by the Mizoram Synod Mission Board to further strengthen the Bible knowledge and teach the Christian way of life for the newly converted Non-Mizo Christians in Mizoram. The school was aptly named ‘Non-Mizo Christian Training School’ in 1989. On 25th October 1990, the name was changed to “Hindi Bible School” by the Synod Mission Board. Layer on in 2008, the named changed to “Presbyterian Hindi Bible School” by the Mizoram Synod.
 
The Synod Inkhawmpui 2007 entrusted the administration of the school to Synod Mission Board. Hence under a separate administration in 2009, the school finally had a new and first principal Rev. John Sharma (2009-2015). Since 2016, the administration continues under the head of Masihi Sangati Director.
Since its commencement from 1990 to 1997, the school offered a three-month course. The course was expanded to six months since 1998 and two batches within one year. As per Synod 2009, the course was upgraded to Certificate of Theology (C.Th) and each  graduating students are now awarded C.Th.
 
Presbyterian Hindi Bible School admitted different denomination such as UPC, LIKBK, BCM (Baptist Church), ECM, Roman Catholic etc., and even Para churches. As such, the school remains of great service to all. 
 
There are many PHBS graduates working in various Synod Mission Fields, they hold important assistance to the missionaries, their contribution at local churches also remains efficacious.
 
Students : There are 1733 students’ enrollment between 1990 to 68th batch June 2022, out of which 1334 male and 399 female. Out of all the enrollments, 1676 have successfully graduated, the remaining 57 could not complete their course to other reasons. The 69th Batch (July-Dec 2022) admitted 29 students.
