Introduction
The Synod Service Board is responsible for the recruitment and management of employment and staffs except for the Pro. Pastor. Before 2015, the board existed as a sub-committee under the Synod Executive Committee.
Since the mission work of the Synod grew over time, it was necessary for the Synod Board to improve upon its policies since there are problems regarding the shortage of employees. For better administration and organization, Synod finally accept the Service Board as a full fledge committee so that depratments such as Inter Departmental Transfer can function more effectively in the long run(Synod 2014, Gen. 52; 2015 Gen. 56). The powers and function of the board was changed.
Service Board Committee Member
The Synod Board Committee is formed as an independent committee from that of the Presbyterian Church. The Chairman of the Committee is the Synod Moderator and the Secretary is the Executive Secretary i/c of the Service Board. Members include:- Synod Secretary [Sr.] and Synod Secretary [jR], The Executive Secretary and and the head of the department of – Synod Mission Board, Synod Hospital Board, PRESCOM Board, Theological Education Board, Synod Education Board and 10 members appointed by the Synod and the Coordinator i/c Service Board. Thus the total member of the Synod Service Board include 22 members. The service term for each member is 3 years and they can be selected for the same post multiple time.
Role of the Synod Service Board
Synod Recruitment Rules & Schedules 2019, Chapter 3 states that Synod Service Board will work in the following manner –
1. To create and maintain the Synod Recruitment Rules
2. To maintain and upkeep the Recruitment Logbook
3. To create new jobs and recruit new workers.
4. To circulate any job openings
5. To create list of Seniority
6. To oversee promotion and Common Cadre.
7. Inter-Departmental Transfer
